Privacy Policy

The Bible Steps mobile application and related website (“Bible Steps” or the “Service”) are operated by Chimpanzee, LLC (“Chimpanzee,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use Bible Steps.

Information We Handle

Bible Steps does not require a Chimpanzee account.

Notes and App Data

Bible Steps may let you create notes, highlights, bookmarks, reading preferences, and other app content.

This content is stored on your device and may also be synchronized through your device platform’s cloud service when those features are enabled.

Chimpanzee does not operate a separate account system for Bible Steps and does not intentionally send your private notes or highlights to Bible-content providers as part of normal Scripture retrieval.

Scripture Requests

Certain Bible translations are retrieved through a server-side service operated for Bible Steps.

When Scripture is requested, the Service may process:

• Bible translation identifiers
• book, chapter, verse, or passage identifiers
• standard network information needed to deliver the request

Bible Steps uses third-party cloud infrastructure to securely route and cache Scripture requests and may retrieve licensed Scripture from authorized Bible-content providers.

Scripture may also be cached locally on your device for performance and offline use.

Purchases and Subscriptions

Purchases and subscriptions are processed by the app store you purchase through.

Chimpanzee does not collect or store your payment card information.

Bible Steps may receive purchase and subscription information from the app store that is needed to determine access to paid features, including product and entitlement status and introductory-offer eligibility.

Diagnostics and Technical Information

The app store, device platform, and service providers used by Bible Steps may process limited technical information needed to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the Service, such as crash information, IP address, request time, and request path.

We do not use this information for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.

How We Use Information

We use information handled through Bible Steps only as reasonably necessary to:

• provide Bible Steps features;
• retrieve and cache Scripture;
• synchronize supported app data;
• verify subscription access;
• show anonymous, aggregate community statistics and improve the app;
• diagnose bugs and performance problems;
• prevent abuse or unauthorized use; and
• comply with legal and content-license requirements.

We do not sell personal information.

Third-Party Services

Bible Steps may use:

• App store and device platform providers for app distribution, purchases and subscriptions, cloud sync, on-device speech recognition, and related platform services;
• Cloud infrastructure providers for secure Scripture routing, caching, the anonymous usage counters, and infrastructure protection;
• Authorized Bible-content providers for licensed Scripture; and
• A model-hosting provider for the on-device speech model that the app downloads at your request when you first record.

These services may process information according to their own terms and privacy policies.

Data Retention

Notes and other app content remain on your device until removed by you or by the device/app lifecycle.

Recordings and transcripts remain on your device until you delete them.

Content synchronized through your device platform’s cloud service is subject to that provider’s storage and retention practices.

Server-side Scripture caches may be retained and refreshed as needed for performance and licensing compliance.

Anonymous usage counters are retained as aggregate totals and are not linked to any person.

Technical logs may be retained for a limited period for security and troubleshooting.

Children’s Privacy

Bible Steps does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. It has no account system and collects no personal information from anyone.

If we learn that we have directly collected personal information from a child under 13 in violation of applicable law, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the Effective Date above.
